Hi, my name is Meredith Shepherd and I am 26 years old. I grew up in this small, but lovely state Rhode Island and I have just recently moved back here to pursue graduate school. Through the few years I had after obtaining my undergrad at Keene State College, I tried many different jobs, but never felt like I was living up to my greatest potential and I never felt full. Something inside of me repeatedly said, teach! I decided to go ahead and make that a reality. My mother was a teacher, so maybe it's in the blood ( as she says). It's really important to me that once I have my very own classroom full of all kinds of students, that I incorporate a very outdoors-based education. It is really important to me that younger generations see the world around them and understand how to grow their own food and to full be aware of and describe our natural surroundings. I am excited to be in this course because American public education is so controversial, fascinating and constantly changing for better....and sometimes for worse (standardized testing). I hope to learn as much as I can from this course!
